Armed with degrees in B.Com, LL.B., and an LL.M. with specialisation in Criminal Jurisprudence, Mrs. Sawant entered the judicial service in 1992 as a Civil Judge (Junior Division) and Judicial Magistrate First Class. From her earliest days on the Bench, it was evident that she combined legal acumen with an even temperament—qualities that earned her the confidence of the Bar and respect from all quarters.
