GST Implications in Redevelopment of Housing Society – An Analysis

Introduction
Mumbai, along with other tier 1 cities, has one important problem that of acute shortage of land available for new construction, hence redevelopment of existing buildings and vertical growth is only choice available for additional construction.
Redevelopment can lead to larger and modern living spaces with latest amenities. Redevelopment of existing building is perhaps only solution available in tier 1 cities for creation of additional living spaces that meet current standards.
In mumbai, we have concept of forming co-operative societies by members for management and maintenance of affairs of society. The flats/unit owners forms society and register the same as separate body/entity under the co-operative laws of the respective States.
