Despite major advances in the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases, infections still remain common reason for admission to hospitals. Hospital staff are at risk for acquiring infections from patients and, if they are infected, transmitting infections to patients, so vaccinations are important. Many parents are afraid to give their children vaccinations for multiple reasons. Though there are numerous types of vaccines, they all have a common purpose: to create immunity inside an individual’s body against deadly diseases. However, there are people who refuse to receive vaccinations.
